Found just a few minutes from Downtown Jacksonville, San Marco is a historic Jacksonville neighborhood with plenty to offer. It’s known for the San Marco Square, but offers many other entertainment and shopping options throughout. The neighborhood used to be independent of the city until 1932.
Today, San Marco is known as one of the most pedestrian friendly communities in Duval County. With all types of unique attractions and architectures throughout, it’s one of the most vibrant communities in Jacksonville.

The open-air layout makes it a great place to shop on a sunny day. Once the night arrives, San Marco Square becomes the center of nightlife in the neighborhood with popular places, such as Taverna and Square One opening up. The historic San Marco Theatre is also found here and provides plenty of great movies.
San Marco Square is also home to a number of events throughout the year including the monthly Affair in the Square, San Marco Fashion Week, sidewalk sales and so much more.
Riverfront Park is another very popular attraction. It’s a great place to enjoy the sunset and one of the best places to spot dolphins in the river. The neighborhood is also home to Jim Rink Park and Greenscape Celebration Park.
Of course, you can’t miss the fountain of lions, which provides a look at the neighborhood’s relationship with Venice, Italy. The dining district is also very popular and home to many of the best restaurants in the entire city. San Marco also provides the Aardwolf Brewing Company and Peterbrooke Chocolatier Production Center. Both are highlights for residents to enjoy.
The location allows residents to explore all of Jacksonville’s historic districts pretty easily. Commuting to downtown is rather easy and a short drive will also get you to The Beaches.
