A historic district in Jacksonville, Florida, Ortega is located just south of Riverside on the St. Johns River, the Ortega River and the Cedar River. It’s nearly an “inland island” with all the surrounding water, which helps to make this neighborhood very popular. It’s a small town atmosphere with plenty to offer. Ortega is also home to a large park system with many options for outdoor recreation. Stockton Park is one of the most popular. It’s found along the St. John’s River and offers plenty for residents to enjoy. Many of the parks throughout the area offer playgrounds, open fields, trails and other recreational features.
The close location to Downtown Jacksonville puts many of the area’s top attractions at a convenient distance. Those living in Ortega enjoy a short commute to The Beaches and many other popular areas found throughout Jacksonville. Residents also enjoy easy access to neighboring communities, such as Avondale and Riverside. Both provide some of the best historic attractions and homes found in Jacksonville, Florida.
